Before making the final ascent to the peak of Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park is Scout Lookout, a place to grab a much needed rest after climbing Walter’s Wiggles. For many hikers, this is the end of the road as the path to the peak is narrow and can be unnerving. (Understandable as it’s 1,200′ to the canyon floor!) It seems the local chipmunk population has gotten pretty used to human presence here as they appear to have no fear scampering around just a few feet from people and, in some cases, even climbing into someone’s lap chasing after cracker crumbs. I caught this little guy cleaning up the crumbs left by a woman who had been sitting nearby.
